Job Title: Systems Engineer
Location: Warton – Hybrid – 3 days per week in office, depending on business needs – Travel overseas and UK travel, covered with expenses

Salary: £49,900+ (DOE)
What you’ll be doing:
- You’ll support the development of the next-generation Mission Enablement System, contributing across the full engineering lifecycle, from requirements capture through design, development and implementation
- As part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team, you’ll support and, where appropriate, support activities including concept development, system architecture, requirements management, design and modelling, testing, safety assessments, cyber security, and qualification and certification
- You’ll facilitate and contribute to team meetings, including daily stand-ups and Agile reviews, and support effective backlog and workflow coordination using tools such as JIRA
- You’ll provide guidance and day-to-day support to less experienced Systems Engineers, including apprentices, helping them develop their technical capability
- You’ll oversee the creation and review of engineering documentation that underpins the Systems Engineering process, ensuring accuracy and alignment to standards
- You’ll support approximately two direct reports, providing direction, feedback and ongoing development support
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- You’ll hold a degree in a STEM subject, or bring relevant experience that demonstrates equivalent knowledge
- You’ll have experience working within a systems engineering environment and across the engineering lifecycle, with familiarity in MBSE methods and tools such as UML, SysML, MoDAF, CAMEO or Matlab
- You’ll have experience contributing to the development of mission systems
- You’ll be comfortable engaging with a range of stakeholders and building effective working relationships
- You’ll hold a UK driving licence, or be working towards obtaining one
Desirable:
- You’ll bring broad systems knowledge across multiple disciplines
- Experience working in an Agile environment would be beneficial
- Experience supporting or mentoring others would be advantageous
- You’ll be comfortable presenting technical information clearly to different audiences

The Mission Systems Mission Enablement Team:
The Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP) MSDT is responsible for delivering advanced mission systems engineering capabilities to our tri-lateral customers while developing and evolving the technologies that will safeguard the UK, Italy and Japan for generations. You will be part of the Mission Systems Mission Enablement team delivering the Assessment Phase of the GCAP programme. The team uses an agile work planning process to develop mission system concept options, architectures and designs for the various components of GCAP. You will have the opportunity to develop and enhance your skills and knowledge, with the potential to support into more senior positions within a global business.
