Role Description:

We have an excellent opportunity for a Nuclear Enablement Plan – Delivery Manager within AUKUS based in Adelaide.

The purpose of the role is to oversee delivery of the Nuclear Enablement Plan on behalf of the Responsible Person, acting in a ‘Deputy’ capacity where required. The role exists to lead, manage and co-ordinate the established programme of work for the Nuclear IPT, utilising Work Package Leads and identifying/liaising with ‘reach-back’ support as needed

The role must act as a champion for ‘Nuclear Stewardship’ developing and deploying a clear definition and standard for it within NPSCY – then monitoring performance and influencing improvement against the expectations set

Core Duties:

  • Provide authoritative advice and guidance to the Company on the requirements of the nuclear site licences, legislation and regulations
  • Support development of ‘Nuclear Stewardship’ expectations and standards within the business, embodied within its BMS and deployed to all workstreams
  • Influence the programmes of work across all areas of the business such that nuclear safety considerations are adequately and effectively integrated
  • Oversee and co-ordinate the key work packages within the Nuclear Enabling Function as defined by CDRL plans
  • Influence the development of effective processes for Organisation Design, the Nuclear Baseline and control of organisational change such that potential impact to nuclear safety is appropriately assessed and mitigated
  • Oversee the deployment of and support interface arrangements between the business, Regulators, Australian and UK NNPP Enterprise partners in order to facilitate co-operation required to support nuclear safety
  • Establish a clear understanding of the proposed regulatory landscape, applicable legislation, intended processes for licensing and specific licence requirements. Co-ordinate the development of key deliverables required to enable the preparation of nuclear site licence applications
  • Oversee the development and deployment of an effective nuclear safety governance and independent advice structure. Facilitate the deployment of an effective compliance operating model
  • Co-ordinate the development, production and maintenance of the policy, principles, criteria, standards, methods and processes necessary for the production of nuclear safety cases/ justifications to support the Submarine build programme
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Nuclear IPT and support its development toward a Nuclear Enablement Function, including co-ordination of the ongoing professional and career development of individuals in this organisational unit

About You

  • Extensive experience of Managing in a Nuclear Industry (or other highly regulated) role
  • Broad knowledge of the legal framework for safety legislation – especially nuclear legislation, licence requirements, environmental permits and how this fits within wider legislative landscape
  • Strong leadership, decision making and organisational capability management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in regulatory interface management – regulator vires and enforcement, statutory powers, regulatory interface meetings, inspections, correspondence, issues and recognises the importance of influencing the business to demonstrably value external regulation
  • STEM degree qualified (or demonstrable equivalent experience)
  • Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain.
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
