Role Description:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Commercial Officer to join us, supporting our SSN AUKUS Commercial team. The successful candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to pursue the best commercial outcomes for the Customer and the business whilst contributing to the support of the Australian Defence Forces.

Core Duties:

  • Provide coordination and administrative assistance to the Commercial team to support progress and negotiation of business activities
  • Assist Commercial Manager with preparation of documentation required under the request for bid approvals and lifecycle management process, including presentation packs, checklists, forms and plans
  • Support with administration of contract and related agreements in accordance with company procedures
  • Manage and resolve customer queries and issues in areas of responsibility, escalating significant problems as appropriate
  • Support with preparation of contract amendments and change proposals
  • Review confidentiality and other agreements for Commercial Manager’s approval and provide assistance to the Commercial Manager on commercial issues
  • Prepare draft business agreement for projects and track return and execution of agreements
  • Coordinate management review and approval of bids and proposals
  • Develop and manage the commercial relationship with stakeholders and customer community to support program delivery
  • Drafting and managing ingoing and outgoing customer correspondence
  • Drafting basic contracts / agreements under supervision and contributing to the development of more complex contracts

About You:

  • Previous experience in a commercial, finance or legal role
  • A formal qualification in a business-related discipline or working towards one is desirable but not essential
  • A curious mindset and ability to integrate and extract information
  • Team orientation with a high level of written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders from all levels and from a range of disciplines
  • Well organised, thorough and professional approach is essential, together with a high degree of motivation, initiative and enthusiasm
  • An ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, and the capacity to perform effectively as part of a team, with minimum of supervision is essential
  • Practical and proactive: you can work in situations where not everything is defined yet, and you are happy to help bring clarity over time
  • Intermediate PC skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of tools is essential
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain Government Security Clearance
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
