Role Description
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operability Analyst to join our Hunter Class Frigate (HCF) Program delivery team. This role can be based at any BAE Systems Australia location however, some travel interstate may be required.
Reporting to the Systems Lead Operability Analyst, this role will be developing and completing the Evolution, Systems and Compartment Operability Statements (OPSTATs) for the Hunter Class Frigate Program. Liaising with Support System Training team to ensure Scheme of Complement and Watch & Station Bill development supports CS Operability concept of operations.
This role is accountable for supporting Combat and Platform System Delivery teams and Support System teams as required for Operability context The purpose of this role is to conduct operational based analysis of the planned system configurations and associated physical implementation in the HCF Combat System design to inform and deliver modification of existing Type 26 (T26) Global Combat Ship, drafting of new HCF CS OPSTATs and supporting Model Based System Engineering development of system architecture and use cases.

Core Duties:
- Conduct activity analysis of RAN requirements and Navy Mission Essential Tasks to inform system design solutions and physical implementation.
- Identify and describe the relationships between operational activities and system engineering solutions, system functions and physical locations of equipment within compartments,
- Provide SME support to Model Based System Engineering personnel in the development of CS architecture diagrams and use cases,
- Author the modification of T26 OPSTATs to correctly describe the Evolutions, Systems and Compartments on the HCF,
- Author new Combat System OPSTATs to correctly describe the Evolutions, Systems and Compartments on the HCF,
- Contribute to Platform System and Transverse OPSTATs to correctly describe the Evolutions, Systems and Compartments on the HCF, as requested by the teams conducting that work,
- Attend Working Groups and engage with HCF engineers to provide SME advice and identify and document key System and Compartment features of the HCF for inclusion in OPSTATs, and
- Contribute to the interactive design reviews of compartments highlighting features and ensuring consistency with the content of the OPSTAT and the compartment design.
- Conduct Operability Evaluations (OPEVALS) with Commonwealth and HCF Program Stakeholder to validate the OPSTATs.
About YOU
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or equivalent experience
- Previous experience within Australian Shipbuilding projects or an operational/technical background within the Royal Australian Navy.
- Extensive RAN operational experience in a Combat System Communications or Electronic Warfare role
- Previous experience with the preparation of Technical Authoring (advantageous)
- Adelaide, SA or Melbourne, VIC with occasional travel to Adelaide
- The ability to operate in a large, complex project in a multi-disciplinary, matrix management environment
- Previously collated and assimilated information from a wide variety of sources
- Great communication skills both written and verbal
- Current NV1 Defence Security clearance or eligibility to obtain
