Responsibilities
· The Avionics Electrical Supervisor works in a highly challenging yet equally rewarding environment, playing a key role in generating aircraft for the RSAF customer. The role is therefore extremely high profile and involves interfacing with other departments and organisation such as Supply, Workshops, Quality, Product Safety, MODSAP etc.
· Work involves a balance between leading the resolution of complex Engineering issues and responsibility for team management including oversight of applicable rules and regulations. Activities as a consequence vary on a day to day basis.
· Management of the maintenance system testing programme for Tornado PE1 aircraft.
· Management of the Avionics Electrical System Testing requirements of the PE1 servicing schedule, unscheduled maintenance, TCTOs and Special Inspections on his designated aircraft.
· Management and supervision of the Avionics Electrical Team Technicians.
· May be required to provide support to the RSAF away from TMSC.
· May be required to work and supervise outside normal trade boundary
· First Stage/Mandatory and Independent certification of completed tasks carried out by the Maintenance Team Technicians when required to do so, including Red-X clearance.
· Plans and co-ordinates, the scheduled maintenance activities both on and off aircraft to meet the aircraft maintenance programme and RSAF operation requirements.
· Ensures work is carried out in accordance with the approved data and standards and procedures detailed within the MOE.
· Prioritises tasks according to the shop and aircraft schedule.
· Monitors and provides daily updates of progress against the programme; these updates are via the agreed IT based application and verbal briefs.
· Highlights to the Team Leader/Maintenance Manager, issues likely to impact the aircraft programme.
· Ensures timely and accurate information is supplied when submitting AES, DDR and Technical Queries.
· Limits the requirement for overtime by effective planning and the use of flexi-time.
· Takes action to address poor performance and disciplinary matters.
· Has responsibility for ensuring the personnel he is supervising have the necessary knowledge and skills to carry out the task in hand.
· Provides sufficient direct supervision of personnel to ensure quality standards are maintained.
· Ensures strict tool control is carried out in accordance with tool control procedures.
· Investigates and provides reports on technical issues and accident/incident events.
· Ensures effective housekeeping programme is maintained.
· Plans shift patterns, ensuring manpower is utilised effectively.
· Manages sickness and absence in accordance with local policy.
· Prepares for and co-operates with all internal/external audits.
· Ensures that sound maintenance practices and documentation procedures are followed at all times.
· Before delegating any task, ensures all personnel are authorised/certified to accomplish the task.
· Ascertains that pre use checks are carried out as required, on the equipment used in the task he is supervising.
· Provides on-the-job theory and practical training.
· Promotes the personal development of himself and others.
· Assesses the competency of team personnel and informs the Team Leader/Maintenance Manager of any deficiencies.
· Certifies personnel for specific tasks when certified as a ‘Work Place Trainer’.
· Ensures accurate demands for replacement components/parts are placed as soon as possible.
· Ensures the required by and impact dates for demands are accurately recorded.
· Monitors the forecast date for demands in conjunction with the project plan and places on the ‘critical list’ any that are likely to impact the programme.
· Highlights to the Team Leader/Maintenance Manager demands likely to impact the maintenance programme.
· Ascertains whether serviceable and calibrated test equipment is available for the planned tasks, and if not informs the Operations Team Leader.
· Establishes and maintains positive relations with TSS’s internal and external customers.
· Ensure accurate information flow is maintained to and from his designated area of responsibility.
· Ability to tow aircraft and supervise aircraft towing team.
Job Requirements:
· Qualifications: A recognised qualification to NVQ3/ONC/OND/BTEC level in a relevant technical discipline, or a technical apprenticeship, or suitable equivalent technical qualification acceptable to M&CA.
· Have at least 7 years post qualification practical maintenance experience within operational flying aircraft environment supported by formal recorded workplace applied related training or 3 years on Tornado Avionics/Electrical system testing.
· Relevant type training (‘Q’ Course) and equipment specific training if required.
· Leadership skills and proven ability to supervise all levels of engineering personnel.
· The successful candidate, Saudi or Expatriate must obtain Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) membership at the appropriate level, prior to starting the new role or commencing employment in KSA, SCE membership must be maintained throughout their employment in this role.
· Holds 2nd signature.
· A sound understanding of the RSAF 4-1-7166 series and supporting technical publications applicable to his work area
· An understanding of the RSAF Operation and working practices
· Working knowledge of Q-pulse, IMS and an understanding of M&CA processes
