13 – 17 July 2026 – Business Focussed

BAE Systems Submarines are pleased to offer this work experience opportunity in our state-of-the-art Submarines Academy for Skills and Knowledge, Barrow-in-Furness.

The experience will include an introduction to the business, introduction into the Business function opportunities, specifically including insights into Higher or Degree apprenticeship roles in Project Management, Supply Chain and Quality. Throughout the week there will also be a chance to discuss career paths with existing staff and apprentices, employability workshops and practical activities, along with university talks and a mock interview.    

Please note: the dates and location shown within the work experience listing will be the exact dates and location of the work experience and cannot be changed.

An additional programme will take place from 26–30 October 2026, with applications opening in late July. If these dates are more suitable, please apply once applications open.

Applications to close approximately 8 weeks before the programme begins. However, they may close earlier if high volumes of applications are received – we recommend applying as soon as possible to avoid missing out.

Entry Requirements
You must have achieved or be on track to achieve by August 2027. 
5 GCSE A*-C or 9-4 (or equivalent), including maths and English.
A minimum of 96 UCAS Tariff Points (240-point old system) (excluding UCAS points gained at AS level) achieved from either:
– 3 A levels
– A L3 Extended BTEC Diploma (which meets the required UCAS points) or equivalent (e.g. T-Level)
Please note entry requirements may be subject to change annually and specific subjects for each role may be required. Further details will be shared during the work experience. Please always check the website prior to making any application.        

Qualification requirements

This programme is for those 16 – 18 (years 12 & 13). * You must be in year 12 at time of application, going into year 13 in September, achieving A-levels or equivalent in August 2027.
