Technical Publication Specialist
JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The purpose of this role is for writing and/or editing existing documents (including policies, procedures and work instructions) contained within RSAF Logistics manuals, as directed by his supervising manager.
The incumbent will:
- Write new publications as needed and/or edit all RSAF Logistics-produced existing publications:
- based on regulatory changes
- customer requirements
- based on regulatory changes
- Create process flow maps for:
- new revised RSAF Logistics procedures
- existing RSAF Logistics procedures
- new revised RSAF Logistics procedures
- Co-ordinate RSAF and contractor approval
- Communicate changes through RSAF’s document management software, including crating CD’s containing the initial issue, revisions and/or updates and forward these to the approved users
- Maintain detailed files of the history for all changes, for all RSAF Logistics manuals
- Interface with regulatory authorities, contractors and/or the end user representatives for any changes to RSAF Logistics manuals
- Remain current with industry sector (defence, aviation, engineering) standards
- Provide a troubleshooting service to users and the RSAF, identifying issues and advising solutions
- develop and deliver training sessions to other team members
- Lead and/or guide the work of other staff engaged in similar functions.
The individual will be required to meet the following criteria.
- Minimum of a diploma (e.g. BTEC HND) in aerospace engineering or an equivalent engineering field.
- Extensive proven experience in a producing technical publications.
- Relevant knowledge and hands on experience required in:
- ISO 10019
- S1000D
- aircraft documentation
- matrix organisations.

The individual must show experience of:
- Following house style in layout, formatting and written style
- Producing highly accurate publications
- Reading, understanding and interpreting engineering drawings, reports, diagrams, publications, schematics and manuals
- Familiarity with industry standards and processes related to technical publications (such as ATA manual, CAA processes, technical manual processes, and industry developments
- Mastery of Microsoft Office products (including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio)
- S1000D and ATA writing specifications
- Effective research skills using the internet and databases.
- Very good communication skills; capable of operating at both detailed and strategic level.
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated attitude able to work to tight timescales.
- Demonstrate high levels of initiative with regard to problem solving.
- Promoting and demonstrating commitment to Continuous Improvement, positively seeking improvements, with the aim of eliminating non value added activities.
- Demonstrate the ability to utilise, and review, current procedures and work instructions.
- Assisting the RSAF to achieve a healthy and safe workplace, and to enable reasonable care of self and others.
