Job title: Systems Group Leader

Salary: Up to £ 70,000 (depending on skills and experience)
What you’ll be doing:
- Understanding the top level packages of work, size and time phasing across the teams within the PRG, how these contribute to critical path and/or milestones
- Understanding the team sizes and skillset required across the PRGs
- Understanding any major dependencies or facilities required across the PRGs
- Contributing in strategic project meetings and facilitating implementation of initiatives
- Giving regular status and recommendations on the resourcing requirements to the project and the Functional Manager
- Support the projects by creating new estimates for bids and maintaining the schedule and budget for on-going projects
- Supporting the team members with their career development in conjunction with the Functional Manager
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Proven experience leading a Systems or Software team in relevant product markets and/or domains, such as control systems, real time displays or other safety related systems
- Proven experience in managing projects to tight schedules and budgets
- Proven experience in requirements management, design analyses, modelling and simulation, writing and reviewing code and using tools such as DOORS, Siemens Polarion, Enterprise Architect, CAMEO, MATLAB and/or Simulink
- A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant Scientific/Engineering subject (e.g. Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics or Mathematics)
Desirable:
- Experience in integration, test, and/or verification of real time and/or safety related systems
- Experience with coding languages such as C/C++ and Python
- Customer and/or supplier liaison experience for technical aspects, verifying and obtaining agreement that customer needs are satisfied
- An understanding of information assurance, cyber security and environmental impact aspects relating to real time embedded engineering products

The Systems Engineering team:
We are looking for experienced and dynamic Systems or Software Team Leaders to step up and provide coordination and strategy for execution of the Systems engineering in the Support and Industrialisation (S&I) or the or Systems/Software engineering in the Airborne Controls product realisation groups (PRG) of the Rochester business. These roles will provide support to the functional department and projects by understanding the work package scope, scheduling, resources and strategy for development across the Systems and Software domains depending on which PRG you will work for.
Your role will stretch across the PRG working with Engineering Project Managers to broadly understand the near term work planned (3mth – 6mth) and longer term work planned (18mth – 24mth); what is critical path for the overall project; who is assigned to each task and whether we are able to pair Subject Matter Experts (SME) with developing Engineers to support Knowledge Management as we go. Uncover and communicate emerging issues with progress and investigate to determine whether they can be dealt with “in-house”. You will define when and what help from other teams or parts of the business is recommended to enable dependencies or provide timely solutions.
