Job Title: Supply Chain Materials Manager

Location: Portsmouth Naval Base. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: Up to £50,000 dependent on skills and experience

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop and apply processes to support one or multiple projects to identify, source and manage materials
  • Work collaboratively ensure the scope of the material requirement is clear and agreed before procurement actions begin
  • Support Programmes to allow us to left shift our demand requirements to better understand our position to procure materials earlier
  • Identify and implement an improved way of managing materials across the Programmes
  • Assist the Asset Management Procurement team with the request for quote process as necessary
  • Work with the Royal Navy Logisticians to provide the best support solutions available to meet their needs so they can accurately report the material availability statistics associated with maintenance periods
  • Develop relationships with end user community in order to understand the most effective transfer of information to benefit their needs
  • Recommend alternative strategies / plans where benefit can be gained
  • Develop effective method of tracking the materials from cradle to grave

Your skills and experiences:

  • Materials management ideally within the Defence Sector
  • Stakeholder Management across a range of customers and peers
  • Previous knowledge/experience of collating data from several sources in order to transform the data into information that benefits the customer
  • Collaboration with other areas both within and outside of Supply Chain functional area and a grasp of Inventory Management, Maintenance and Planning requirements
  • Have knowledge of process improvement techniques aimed at driving efficiencies in services

The Asset Management Supply Chain Team:

The Asset Management Supply Chain team exist to ensure maximum availability of materials required for maintenance periods supporting Royal Navy vessels in Portsmouth Naval Base. This includes the reporting and management of materials our customer supply as well as sourcing and managing alternative material solutions when items are not available via traditional routes.
