Job Title: Senior Team Lead – Detail Design

Location: Halifax, NS

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead and manage a team of Technical Leads, Senior Designers, Detail Designers and Associate Detail Designers
  • Provide specialist engineering expertise to organize and coordinate significant engineering activities, ensuring design objectives are met while maintaining quality, safety, and cost standards
  • Serve as the main point of contact with clients addressing design-related concerns, ensuring smooth project execution, and maintaining strong working relationships
  • Assume responsibility for setting the strategy and direction of the team. Manage decision-making, budget allocation, resourcing, and performance reviews, contributing to project delivery and business success
  • Ensure all designs align with company standards and industry regulations, continuously assessing and improving processes for optimal results
  • Manage risks, budgets, and resources within the design process, ensuring that technical objectives are achieved while maintaining cost-efficiency

Your skills and experiences:

  • Proven track record of managing large-scale engineering projects
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in performance coaching, motivation, and development
  • Customer-focused with excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence and negotiate effectively
  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical instructions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Possess a degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field

The Detail Design team:

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team within Canada’s River Class Destroyer program. As a Senior Team Lead in Detail Design, you will lead a team of Technical Leads and Detail Designers overseeing complex engineering tasks, ensuring quality and cost objectives are met, and preparing for a future management role. You will take on both technical and managerial responsibilities, acting as a key liaison between clients, contractors, and subcontractors while driving the success of the design process.
