Job Title: Senior Finance Business Partner Capabilities

Location: Warton, we offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Circa £92,000 plus executive benefits, including bonus and car allowance

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing the delivery of all programme requirements and assessing/shaping the financial impact of business decisions
  • Engaging cross functionally, with Project Directors and Budget Holders, to drive business improvements that deliver positive financial outcomes including delivery of in year and contractual financial targets
  • Working with Project Management to maximise the impact of the quarterly contract review process and providing finance leadership to the process
  • Leading the Finance Business Partnering team, supporting the Capabilities Programme and, as part of the Finance Leadership Team, play an active role in the wider management of the Function
  • Using business acumen, providing financial challenge of any new business activity to enable approval of pricing proposals and delivery of the business strategy balancing long term customer need with maximising shareholder value
  • Focusing on maintaining and improving financial controls across the Programme ensuring all financial procedures and controls are applied as required and supporting non finance functions on their application                                                   
  • Supporting to the Programme Director E&I Capabilities and their team to drive performance improvement both within the programme and reaching back and influencing the broader CAM and Service Delivery Unit population. This includes ensuring provision of finance support in identifying business benefits challenging activities that do not have a sufficient return either financially or non-finance terms, tracking and embedding those challenges in EAC returns
  • Responsibility for the efficient deployment of working capital and ensuring maximum value from company investments in product capability improvements.
  • Demonstrating strong visible leadership on Total Safety within the Finance Function and the across the wider E&I Business
  • Embracing the One Finance approach through pro-actively contributing to the success of all parts of the wider Finance team
  • Representing BAE Systems at all Panavia and Eurofighter Finance meetings, and providing support to the business with key suppliers

Your skills and experiences:

  • CIMA, ACA, or ACCA Qualified
  • Strong experience as a Finance Business Partner engaging with non-Finance staff and providing decision support to stakeholders – demonstrating business acumen
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to reprioritise to meet key deadlines, good communication skills, team player, ability to challenge and influence the business and a proactive and inquisitive nature
  • Demonstrate an ability to distil complex issues, opportunities, and challenges in a succinct and compelling narrative.
  • Proven ability to lead Finance teams and embed change effectively

The Europe & International Finance team:

You’ll play an important role in supporting our Air Forces, which is crucial to our defence strategy, by leading the programme team to deliver and generate value via current and future projects and product contracts. You will have the opportunity to define and implement the Finance Business Partnering approach for the Capabilities Programme.
