Job Description
Job title: Product Development Engineer
Location: Bourges – BAE Systems has an established policy and mobility team in place to assist the successful candidate and immediate family to relocate to France.
Salary: £42,132
What you’ll be doing:
- The specification, preparation and management of development trials and the management of the manufacture of the necessary ammunition.
- Analysis of trials results and the writing of reports.
- Contribution to the technical support to the manufacture of ammunition.
- Support to the procurement function in technical discussions with suppliers.
- Aiding with the manufacture of inert ammunition assemblies in preparation of trials.
- The production of documentation as part of the development and qualification cycle of ammunition both to internal and external customers.
- Responsibility for the development of new natures of ammunition, respecting the schedule and cost objectives agreed in between the Engineer Lead and the Project Manager.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Degree in OME, Mechanical Engineering or related subject.
- Materials and manufacturing knowledge
- Capability/experience of producing high-quality technical reports
- Specification and report writing experience
Desirable:
- Experience in the organisation of trials
- Ammunition and weapons knowledge
- Working level of French, written and spoken
Applicants should ideally be Degree qualified or have equivalent experience, likely to be in a technology, engineering or science related discipline.

Would you like to join CTA International, working as part of our Engineering team? We currently have a vacancy for a Product Development Engineer to join the team in Bourges, France. This is an international secondment opportunity working in the historic town of Bourges in central France. The duration of the secondment is 3 years. You’d be joining a small, close-knit, diverse team formed as a joint venture between BAE Systems and the French company NEXTER.
Join our innovative Ammunition Engineering team, driving the development of cutting-edge 40 CT ammunition from concept to state qualification. At CTA International, a dynamic 50/50 joint venture between BAE Systems and Nexter, you’ll contribute to world-class design, production, and support of 40CTAS. Collaborate with top licensees like KNDS Ammo France and BAE Systems (UK).
