Role description:

Responsible and accountable for generating, delivering, and maintaining maintenance strategy management across multiple phases of UK and Export projects and programmes. Engages with MoD Approval Authorities and Export Country Approval Authorities to secure sign‑off and buy‑in for maintenance solutions appropriate to each programme. Integrates maintenance engineering with internal and external stakeholders, including Design Teams and wider Support disciplines, while representing both current and future projects.

Core Duties:

  • Responsible for the management, welfare and resource/recruitment of the ME team employees.
  • Leading and managing the delivery of the Supportability Products for Maintenance Engineering across UK and Export Projects.
  • Manage the review and assessment of Supplier data deliverables for accuracy and compliance against project requirements.
  • Manage RCM analysis programme, facilitating supplier and SME engagement and lead the Maintenance Working Group (MWG) & Maintenance Review and Approval Boards (MRABs).
  • Management of the IUE (UMMS) for input and ‘set live’ of maintenance schedules, planning and recording Formal Acceptance of Equipment from a maintenance perspective
  • Provision of monthly status reports against defined metrics to the project teams.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to reduce costs and enhance the effectiveness of both ME activities and the overall Hub Services Team
  • Provide input and representation, where necessary, to both internal, external and export/foreign customer/industry partners governance, approval events and bid development/LCM processes

Essential Skills:

  • You’ll hold a Degree or HND/HNC, or equivalent, in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical/Electrical/Marine Engineering), or possess relevant experience within an engineering industry or military organisation.
  • You’ll have experience of ILS/IPS (DEF STANs 00‑600, 00‑45, G0007B, BR1313, BR1313a and JSP 886) and support within major UK and Export projects.
  • You’ll have experience in the delivery of Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) or OEM‑recommended maintenance using a recognised methodology.
  • You’ll be able to apply project management controls and techniques, including planning and cost control, earned value management, risk and opportunity management, and change management for detailed work packages.
  • You’ll have a working understanding and experience of Ship Design, Ship Build Production, Test and Commissioning, Ship Delivery/Acceptance, and in‑service support for warships.
  • You’ll have an understanding of maintenance processes, practices, and assurance organisations such as Lloyd’s Register or DNV.

The ILS/IPS Engineer – Maintenance team:

As an ILS/IPS Engineer – Maintenance, you will be working within a team responsible for influencing the operability and maintainability of the platform, analysing systems and the design, production, supply, and maintenance of the support products required by various platforms in service and in build. This role will provide you with the opportunity to influence operations and maintenance, supporting complex solutions, whilst being able to develop your capabilities within Support Engineering within a dynamic and challenging environment.
