Role Description:
We are currently looking for a Material Expediter to join our Maritime Sustainment team based in Osborne, SA for a 6 – 12 month Fixed Term Contract.
As a Material Expeditor you will be responsible for the smooth and timely flow of materials across the Osborne Naval Shipyard to support uninterrupted Production operations. Working within the Production Integrated Workforce Team and collaborating closely with Logistics, Warehousing, Supply Chain Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Facilities teams.
The role proactively identifies and resolves material issues, interprets Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) data, manages inventory movement, and provides accurate reporting to maintain schedule adherence and drive continuous improvement in material control.
Core Duties:
- Assist supply chain to ensure production are supplied with materials in a timely manner to meet schedules
- While integrated within production IWT, liaison with a broad range of stakeholders across functions including shipyard logistics, warehousing, supply chain planning, engineering, quality, planning and facilities to resolve any supply chain issue affecting the production effort.
- Understand and interpret MRP reporting, liaise with stakeholders to discuss material shortage issues.
- Interpret, understand and manage inventory and coordinate the movement of materials between the Warehouse and yard to meet the production and yard logistics schedules.
- Interface with the IWT liaison to gauge progress, inventory levels and help resolve any related supply chain issues.
- Work with the Supply Chain Planning team to aid with the calculation of material quantities or items required to complete specific job orders.
About You
- Work with a variety of stakeholders to continuously improve the management of the flow of materials to production.
- Previous defence experience will be highly regarded.
- Ability to show initiative, prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Material stores / planning / or expediting experience in a production environment
- Prior experience in the use of ERP systems – desirable
- Intermediate MS Office skills, especially in Word, Excel and PowerPoint (preferred).
