JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The purpose of the Typhoon Maintenance Support Specialist is to provide professional advice and assistance to the Typhoon Weapon System Support Manager (TyWSSM) on all Typhoon Maintenance Support topics. The Job Holder is to provide independent critiques on proposals and deliverables from suppliers, monitor and report on service performance across multi-disciplinary logistics delivery streams on a daily basis, proactively identifying root causes to issues that arise and work with all logistic services to implement changes that help rectify those issues in order to maximise fleet wide availability. The Job Holder will operate under the overall line management/direction of the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) TyWSSM and the governance of the RSAF Directorate of Aircraft Maintenance (DoAM) and as such is required to work in accordance with the Plans and Procedures in which control how the RSAF DoAM operates.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
· Monitoring and reporting Depth performance and asset availability and calibration (METCAL).
· Monitoring & Reporting on Munitions & Role Equipment availability
· Monitor & Reporting on the serviceability of all RSAF Aircraft Ground Equipment and Role Equipment to support operational requirements and associated Readiness measures
· Monitor and provide independent assessment to TyWSSM on the PC’s In-Kingdom Industrial Participation (IKIP) Supplier activities whilst providing the interface between RSAF, PC, IKIP suppliers.
· Provide advice and assistance to other RSAF Directorates and DoAM sections as required on broader engineering issues.
· Accompanying RSAF officers to briefings and meetings, as required.
· Perform other engineering and administrative tasks as required by the TyWSSM or their deputy.
· To be open and honest in their dealings with others, sharing information to the benefit of the Customer and business whilst recognising potential Conflicts of Interest.
· To be aware of BAE Systems policies, including Commercial, Financial, Legal, Procurement, Personnel, Project Management, Security, Export Controls (ITAR and EU Regulations) and Engineering with the Job Holder ensuring, wherever possible within the RSAF Advisor environment, adherence to them when they relate to their work.
· Where necessary, initiate and progress Weapon / Role Equipment related Defect Investigations / safety related weapons investigations, liaising with the TSC as appropriate, to review the resultant reports, expediting any consequential maintenance or modification action.

· Monitor and review Depth modifications and obsolescence programmes ensuring that the fleet is managed effectively, through-life, whilst minimizing life-cycle costs.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
The Job holder will have completed a recognised course of training or an apprenticeship at a military or civilian school in Aeronautical Engineering or related technology and will possess extensive proven aircraft engineering/maintenance and logistics experience with proven experience in a management/senior supervisory position, responsible for the leadership, management and application of safety systems in an aircraft operational environment
The Job Holder will provide advice, support and assistance pertaining to all RSAF Typhoon aircraft to the Typhoon Weapon System Support Manager (TyWSSM) and Director of Aircraft Maintenance in a timely and effective manner, on the following activities:
· In conjunction with the TSC, management and control of the Safety & Quality Management and Assurance systems.
· Continued implementation of Continuous Improvement
· RFL and associated amendment management
· Support to the day to day management of the RSAF’s Engineering Authority and Design Organisation Change process
· Data management and analysis in conjunction with the Typhoon Support Center (TSC).
· Support to CESST availability & utilization monitoring and providing reports as required
· Support to Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) Operational readiness.
To also include but not limited to:
· Acting as deputy to the Typhoon Maintenance Lead as required.
· Coordinating and interfacing with the TSC, PC and MODSAP on all matters of RFL supportability, providing the interface with HQ RSAF Heads of Specialisation on all related policy issues, resolving areas of difference and providing advice on harmonisation strategies.
· To manage the configured baseline of the “in-service” standard of the Typhoon Weapons System and associated support capabilities in accordance with the Regulatory Framework for Logistics (RFL).
· Monitoring and reporting on the efforts of the Typhoon Weapon System Section in order to maintain operational capability of the RSAF Typhoon fleet.
· In conjunction with Typhoon Weapon System Section specialists, be able to assist the development and refinement of future support concepts and policies.
· In consultation with relevant staffs, prepare maintenance support input to requirements and programme management documentation, including statements of requests and work for future Typhoon support proposals.
· Acting as the Typhoon RTS point of contact within the DoAM, monitoring and distributing the RTS to all RSAF stakeholders.
· Acting as office coordinator for the production of reports and briefs on research and development topics, new programmes, safety and reliability subjects, as required.
· Accompanying RSAF officers to briefings and meetings, as required.
· Perform other engineering and administrative tasks as required by the TyWSSM or their deputy.
· To take ownership of their personal and professional development.
· To co-operate with Directors/Departmental Managers to achieve a healthy and safe workplace and to take reasonable care of themselves and others.
· To adhere to BAES Saudi Arabia Security policies and procedures and to ensure that Company assets within their charge are adequately protected.
· To manage and use the BAES Saudi Arabia resources both effectively and in such a manner as to minimise costs; and contributing to the achievement of agreed budgets.
RECRUITMENT
Typhoon Aircraft Weapons and General System’s operational experience is essential. The Job Holder will have substanital experience in the maintenance and support of military aviation operations. The incumbent will be from a Typhoon user Air Force background with practical, hands-on experience at a senior management level.
Essential:
· Current 1st or 2nd Line Typhoon experience at Senior Supervisor level or above within a Typhoon operational environment.
· Working knowledge of Safety & Quality Management Systems
· Comprehensive appreciation of the military airworthiness maintenance regulations.
· The incumbent must have a detailed knowledge of military maintenance regulatory procedures.
· Be compliant in Maintenance Error Investigation techniques.
· Understand the Continuous Improvement (CI) process.
· Knowledge & Experience in Weapons/Munitions.
Desirable:
· Current 1st Line Typhoon experience at Senior Supervisor level or above or experience of working with Military Fast Jet platforms in the Forward Operational Domain or 2nd Line employment, within the Typhoon industry.
· Previous experience working with Industry within an aeronautical environment.
