JOB PURPOSE 

BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia.  We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The Regional Head of Support Services is the senior Support Services representative in the region they are assigned to, Central, Western or Eastern Region. The Head of Support Services (HoSS) works as a member of the Business Services team with a key responsibility through the Head of Employee Support Services, to the Director Business Shared Services, for the direct and indirectly managed delivery of multiple service stream outputs at their respective location. In role there is a requirement to interpret business strategy and significantly contribute to the development & implementation of necessary Support Services and wider Business Shared Services, strategy, policy and procedures in order to support and meet the operational needs of the wider business now and into the future. At this level the role requires excellent and broad services knowledge and experience plus a detailed appreciation and understanding of the business, market and key competitors. The delivery of the role will typically be through both direct and indirect management of teams of services managers and professionals or is delivered as an individual contributor with significant subject matter expertise. The Regional Head of Support Services requires excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing and management skills, including engagement at local senior leadership level, engaging as appropriate, on policy, process and outcomes within their region. The Regional Head of Support Services can be called upon to deliver services tasks and activities commensurate with their necessary skill set. The Regional Head of Support Services will use considerable experience and judgement to assimilate often conflicting inputs from a range of sources in order to make appropriate and timely decisions that impact positively upon business and employee performance within their region. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • The role has key accountability for the quality and timeliness of business services offerings delivered through service teams at each location and in accordance with the stated vision, mission and strategy of the function and agreed service level parameters.

  • Services cover medical, accommodation and workplace, as well as employee services, which are predominantly those services delivered to directly support the expatriate workforce and their sponsored dependants along with the associated complexities. Full details are as described in the published  services menus. 

  • The Regional Head of Support Services will work closely with the respective functional stream leads to ensure the effective performance and governance of all assets, budgets and of the services delivered to customers at the respective business location further enabling project directors to focus on delivery of project.

  • Will hold appropriate levels of DOA and be fully accountable for all budgets that are delegated to the job holder.

  • Will lead numerous service assurance activities internally and with outsourced external providers covering the location. 

  • Will support necessary performance reporting through to QFR and other business reviews as necessary. 

  • Significantly contribute to establishing and maintaining an effective talent management processes and in developing functional talent through established FRR processes.

  • Provides expert advice to senior management on any aspect of service provision at location.

  • Sets SMART objectives for self and team members in the management of business services at the respective location.

  • Interfaces with all business and KPC management.

  • Role will necessitate mainly national travel within KSA to attend various functional review meetings 

  • Reporting local Business Services monthly performance to the Head of Employee Support Services in accordance with agreed service levels.

  • Primary interface with local Base Management for all Business Services and a key and active member of the Base level management board.

  • Line Management responsibility for all service teams in location and overall management of all Business Services employees at location.

  • Maintaining relationships with all business service customers and stakeholders at locations.

  • Supporting the Head of Employee Support Services with Design, development and implementation of Business Services strategies and undertake continuous improvement.

  • Responsibility for local management of suppliers for local services and supporting the procurement team for centrally managed suppliers.

 

 

RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION

 

Essential

·       The role would typically require a degree/masters degree in business administration or related discipline.

·     Extensive business services type experience, some of which is in a leadership/management role in a mid-size organisation preferably in the aviation/defence industry.

·       Has an in depth understanding of the business services concepts and procedures within own  technical/subject area/s.

·     Their level of proficiency enables them to (1) apply and consolidate specialist skills and knowledge and ensure essential procedures are followed (2) help to identify the standards and specifications around which others will operate.

·     The role needs a comprehensive knowledge of several services areas and how their processes and resources interact in other areas to achieve functional objectives.  A good understanding of industry and commercial awareness is required to understand the relative positioning of the Company’s products/services vs the competition.

·     Full management of a team, including management of people, defining roles and responsibilities, planning for the departments future needs and operations, counselling employees on performance and contributing to employee pay decisions/changes.

·      The role evaluates (sometimes complex) situations using multiple sources of information referring to a diverse range of internal and external sources such as procedures and practices (in other teams, areas or companies etc).  The complexity implied relate to the ability to filter, prioritise, analyse and validate potentially complex and dynamic material.

·       The role has an impact on the business through providing value added perspectives or advisory services that are important to decision making.

·       The impact of the role is on a business location such that the work and performance of all teams within the area will be directly affected by the performance of the jobholder.

·     The role needs to possess a very high level of communication skills, including interactive listening in order to negotiate (mainly internally) with others often at senior levels.
