Job Title: Consultant Technologist – Systems
Location: Isle of Wight – Cowes
Salary: Up to £85,700 (dependent on skills and experience) Part time & accruing hours available’ Please let us know if you would like to discuss these options.
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing support to the System Design Authority regarding overall Radar System design
- Responsible for defining and capturing digital requirements from board level to sub-system level
- Provide digital techniques support to the System Design Authority and techniques groups (RF, software, digits, mechanical, Drawing Office) at all stagers throughout the design life cycle
- Provide support to digital techniques team throughout the design process ensuring adherence to established design protocols
- Provide analysis of system architectures with a view to providing guidance on make/buy/COTS decisions
- Define test and integration plans from board to system level
- System Design Assurance – ensuring there is enough built in functionality to support design assurance. Also contributing to the generation of the system design assurance specification
Your skills and experiences:
- A degree or significant experience in Electronic Engineering or strongly related subject
- Proven experience in digital electronics, including FPGA development, high‑speed interface technologies (e.g., Serial FPDP, JESD204), complex system control and timing architectures, COTS hardware integration, and PCB design
- Experience in sub-system and System integration and test
- Familiarity with Xilinx/AMD FPGA products and Vivado design tools
- Experience in radar system data analysis
- Experience in the whole design process from requirements to design assurance and sign off
- A solid understanding of radar operation, in particular Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radars is highly desirable
- Familiarity with MBSE and formal requirements management (e.g. DOORS) is highly desirable

As a Consultant Technologist, you will focus on the electronic aspects of hardware design, taking a leading role in complex engineering challenges across the full development lifecycle, from requirements definition through to system integration, customer acceptance, and long-term support
Our workplace in Cowes is an easily accessible commute from Southampton with a regular foot passenger ferry and BAE shuttle service from the ferry terminal to site.
