We are looking for an experienced Lead Engineer to join the R&D Concept Development team at their premises in Malvern developing prototype systems, hardware, software and techniques to drive the next generation of Electronic Warfare products. The candidate must be able to take ownership of a project from the idea generation phase, through the concept development phase to system demonstration in the laboratory and in the field. The role will involve interaction with and technical oversight of both a multi-disciplinary internal engineering team and external partners. The candidate must be capable of managing their own work whilst being a member of a small dynamic team. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will work closely with our software, FPGA, and hardware engineers to develop advanced prototype systems and techniques (typically up to Technology Readiness Level 6). This is a role in a small team which will also include the mentorship of less experienced engineers who may be brought into the team at a later stage. You will be encouraged to contribute your ideas on process and quality improvement and will use the breadth of knowledge you’ve developed to help identify appropriate technologies to use in new products.

  • Acting as the technical lead on assigned Concept Development tasks.
  • Ensuring that Concept Development tasks reach milestones such as laboratory demonstration, field demonstration or, in some cases, ensuring that projects are stopped if they cannot be completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Arranging and coordinating reviews as required.
  • Providing detailed technical support to other company departments as required.
  • Providing detailed technical support and oversight to suppliers and partners.
  • Reviewing and allocating issues in Jira.
  • Ensuring design description information is produced in Confluence and kept up to date.
  • Ensuring that designs for successful prototypes are handed over to the R&D Product Development team for further development beyond Technology Readiness Level 6.
  • Line management of the R&D Concept Development team.
  • Tasking allocated engineering staff on a day-to-day basis.
  • Development of Statements of Work and tasking of subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Management of subcontractors and suppliers who are contributing to Concept Development projects.
  • Any other reasonable duties required to support the company in meeting its objectives
  • Have due regard for PV Grading, F680 and Export Licence Controls
  • Working to Kirintec’s ISO standards
