Computer Technician
Grade: 7

Responsibilities
1. Setting up or repairing computer hardware and other associated devices such as printers and scanners.
2. Paying close attention to the user’s description of their computer problem and asking questions to identify the problem and determine how to solve it.
3. Training users on how the use of new hardware or software.
4. Testing and evaluating the organization’s computer network.
5. Troubleshooting network problems and individual user hardware or software problems.
6. Installs and maintains computer networks for both hardware and software.
7. Configures new systems.
8. Updates software packages.
9. Creates and maintains computer networks.
10. Diagnoses and resolves IT issues.
11. Diagnose hardware and operating system problems and repair.
12. Clean computer equipment and peripherals.
13. Install and reinstall software for proper operation in the instruction process.
14. Identify and correct network problems with local area networks and assist network manager with wide area networks.
15. Help set up computer labs with proper configuration.
16. Consults and works with other district technology personnel.
17. Configure and set up printers, projection devices, and other computer peripherals to work effectively for various instructional purposes.
18. Assists Director of Technology with maintenance of the district computer equipment inventory.
19. Pick up and deliver computer equipment between buildings and the Network Office.
20. Conduct an organized system of receiving repair orders, recording problems, and following through with repairs.
21. Assist with other technology problems and equipment operations when possible.
22. Maintain a computer services repair center with appropriate supplies and equipment.
23. Provide emergency assistance as required to maintain district technology services.
24. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.
Job Requirements:
1. Software and hardware expertise.
2. Experience with LAN/WAN networks.
3. Excellent trouble shooting skills.
4. Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
5. Good communication skills to interact with clients, users, management and developers.
