Job title: Business Development Manager
Location: Tokyo, Japan: Willing to travel domestically and internationally for client engagement and events.
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:
Support BAE Systems in developing opportunities in the Japanese defence and security market - Explore, develop and establish partnerships and relationships with relevant Japanese industries associated with technology cooperation
Identify requirements and determine priorities for technology and procurement projects in Japan, utilizing knowledge of Japan’s defence policy and plans, as well as the Group’s capabilities and programmes Develop and support the execution of the Group’s industrial strategies as they apply to Japan Provide professional opinion and advice that address technical, supply chain and procurement issues for the Group - Provide experience based guidance and support to the business of the commercial and contracting process with Japan’s Ministry of Defence
Your skills and experiences:
- Significant work experience in Japan’s defence related industries or government with knowledge of research, development and government procurement
- Demonstrated ability in working with industry and government at senior levels in defence / technology development
- Good knowledge of supply chain and procurement practices in the Japanese defence environment
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information to the Group’s engineering & non-engineering stakeholders
Fluent in written and spoken Japanese and English
The Business Development Team:
BAE Systems Japan GK is seeking a Business Development Manager for our Tokyo team, focusing on expanding our business within Japan. Reporting to the Country Manager, this role involves fostering industrial partnerships and providing contractual support to Japanese clients. Ideal candidates will have a background in business development, with experience in embassy, military, or technical settings. Expertise in managing relationships with JMOD and commercial contracts with JMOD is required. Candidates with experience in major defence contractors, trading houses or government agencies are encouraged to apply.
