This is a full -time permanent role which offers hybrid and flexible working arrangements including a 9-day fortnight.

Role Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Project Manager to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program team based at Osborne Naval Shipyard, SA.

As the Associate Project Manager, you will be accountable to the Senior Project Manager for the support and co-ordination of Project Management activities and the contribution towards planning and delivery of the Platform Engineering scope. You may also be responsible for managing delivery of project tasks with defined scope or work package and within the constraints of cost, schedule and quality.

Core Duties:

  • Under direction, plan, initiate and support/manage small discrete packages of work and/or tasks to completion, applying the principles of project management and body of knowledge areas
  • Review applicable program schedules identifying any impacts to BAE Systems Australia’s delivery schedule and working with the Project Manager to identify and implement corrective actions
  • Ongoing maintenance and update of the Project Schedule, ensuring all necessary Project planning activities are captured and identifying any deviations to the Project Manager
  • Providing early warning of any emerging risks or developments that could have an adverse impact on the Project
  • Support the development of project management planning documents and artefacts across the discipline including but not limited to cost, schedule and risk
  • Support the application of BAE Systems Australia’s Earned Value Measurement System, including generating all required status reports and coordination of variance analysis and corrective action activities on a monthly basis
  • Support and enable Platform Engineering team to deliver priority scope and obtain status updates as required for critical tasks
  • Support cross-functional activities and undertake discrete tasks as directed by the Project Manager

Essential Skills:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management (desirable)
  • Previous experience in a similar role or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management and associated Project Management principles
  • Previous exposure to Project Management software and toolsets for managing projects
  • Ability to interact effectively with stakeholders both internal and external to BAE Systems to implement business requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously under time constraints, solve problems and make decisions
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Strong Microsoft Office skillset in particular Microsoft Excel
  • Eligibility to obtain a Defence Security Clearance.
