Salary: Circa £42,000 depending on experience

Job Description:

This role supports the delivery of small projects or defined work packages across the full lifecycle, from early proposals and design activity through to production and in‑service support. It requires managing plans, risks, opportunities and reporting, while working closely with project teams, suppliers and customers to ensure time, cost and quality commitments are met. The position also involves preparing performance updates for project leadership, coordinating problem‑solving activity and supporting day‑to‑day project management tasks, with occasional travel to other sites as needed.

Core duties:

  • Manage and deliver small projects or defined work packages across the full lifecycle, including proposals, bids, design, development, production and in‑service support
  • Maintain and update project plans, schedules and interdependencies, working closely with project teams and stakeholders
  • Identify, track and manage project risks and opportunities, ensuring mitigation and promotion actions are completed on time
  • Produce clear performance reports and present updates to project leadership as required
  • Coordinate problem‑solving activity with engineering, supply chain, commercial and other internal teams
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, suppliers and customers
  • Support day‑to‑day project management tasks, including governance, reporting and documentation, with ad‑hoc travel to other sites when required

Essential Skills:

  • Experience as a Junior Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager or Project Coordinator
  • Hands‑on experience supporting small projects or defined work packages, or delivering parts of a larger project
  • Exposure to engineering or manufacturing environments (e.g., mechanical, electrical, aerospace, defence, systems, electronics, or similar)
  • Experience gathering, interpreting and reporting project data
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project

The Electronic Systems team is responsible for extremely complex and innovative projects, we are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Assistant Project Manager. You will assist the Project Manager with day-to-day management activities in order to meet the project’s time, cost, and quality goals.
