About the OPPORTUNITY –
Within a team environment, the Training Specialist is responsible for providing specialist advice and guidance to Number 1 Remote Sensor Unit (1RSU) and Surveillance and Control Training Unit (SACTU) Defence staff; in particular, the development, facilitation and delivery of training programs that enhance 1RSU’s operational effectiveness.
This role will see you working within a small team to answer ad-hoc questions, provide training sessions and develop training content for the 1RSU Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) Over the Horizon Radar (OTHR) system.
It will be critical that the successful individual has 1RSU experience to be successful in this role. An expectation of current or past qualifications in this field will be mandatory as well as the continued development and qualifications in the system.
For this role you will be required on-site in SA, RAAF Base Edinburgh to perform the duties of this role. There may be some flexible working options available on limited occasions.
This role will see you:
- Design, develop, update, and deliver specialised content within Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Learning Management Packages
- Provide scheduled and ad hoc JORN operator related, technical, operational and training specialist advice
- Research specific OTHR concepts to provide detailed and tailored responses to relevant stakeholders
- Provide specialist advice and assistance in the development and review of operational procedures to ensure best practice is maintained
- Monitor and provide feedback on learner progress and performance in line with RAAF training frameworks
- Provide constructive feedback to assessment candidates, develop and monitor tailored training plans to rectify any observed deficiencies
- Obtain and maintain currency in JORN operational positions and comply with Defence instructions relevant to their roles
- Establish and maintain effective networks with relevant stakeholders in relation to the JORN OTHR system, operations, and training requirements
- Work directly with 1RSU and SACTU Defence staff day-to-day
- Facilitate clear communication between 1RSU, SACTU and BAE Systems staff by understanding operator and developer-level language as an integral part of sustainment and development activities
About YOU
- Demonstrated experience (current or past) working in 1RSU, with DTO and RADCON qualifications ideal
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with various stakeholders and explain complex theory into non-technical language
- Confident public-speaker with the ability to engage in a classroom-style environment with minimal preparation
- Working experience in a Defence training environment
- Familiarity with the Systems Approach to Defence Learning and the ability to design and facilitate courses within its framework
- Well-developed ability to embrace change, learn new technologies and work under pressure
- Well-developed problem-solving and time-management skills
- Current NV2 Defence security clearance
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
