Job Description

Job Title: IM&T Project Management Specialist

Location: Scotstoun, Glasgow. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £55,000 + depending on skills and experience

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading programme/project leads and/or service owners to adhere to the agreed portfolio management approach and timetable and ensuring that the appropriate information is provided to agreed timelines
  • Taking full responsibility for activities within a significant segment of an organisation where the advice given, and decisions made will have a measurable impact on profitability or effectiveness of the organisation
  • Selecting of appropriate methods, tool, and techniques from plan-driven/predictive approaches or more adaptive (iterative and agile) approaches
  • Establishing the contribution that technology can make to business objectives, defining strategies, validating, and justifying business needs, along with conducting feasibility studies, producing high-level and detailed business models
  • Preparing business cases, overseeing development and implementation of solutions, whilst considering the implications of change on the organisation and all stakeholders
  • Planning and leading the improvement activities identifying alternative solutions, assessing feasibility, and recommending solutions which exploit new technologies and automation

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • A good level of experience in supporting the delivery of medium sized projects within a portfolio
  • Stakeholder management skills
  • Budget management and controls experience
  • Relevant vocational qualification or equivalent experience e.g. HNC/Prince 2/APM

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in an IT function
  • Familiarity with IT trends and good practice
  • Relevant IT degree or business degree

The IM&T Project Management team:

This is a small team with plans to grow in the future to keep up with the expansion of IM&T future programmes. You would be involved in the management of major applications upgrades, Combat System upgrades and other functional future programmes from IM&T. This role would give you the opportunity to work with a range of both internal and external stakeholders. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks
