Description

27 – 31 July 2026

Students participating in the 2026 Legal work experience programme will spend a week with the Legal team at the Frimley office, developing an understanding of the range of legal services and support it provides to BAE Systems plc.
The Legal team is made up of approximately 150 lawyers throughout the UK providing legal support to the company and ensures that legal risks are identified and managed effectively.  Many of our lawyers work within our Sectors providing commercial legal advice, with others providing specialist advice from our head office locations.  There are over 40 specialist lawyers working from our Frimley office.

Throughout the programme, students will work on a variety of project-based tasks delivered by different legal teams including Compliance & Regulation, Labour Law, UK Central Legal team, IT & Data Law, IP & Technology Law and ESG. These activities are designed to provide insight into the legal profession.

Participants will collaborate in teams to complete team-specific tasks and will present their findings, enhancing both their technical understanding and communication skills.  There will also be engagement with a leading London law firm, to explore the differences and similarities of working as an in-house solicitor and a private practice lawyer and with BPP Law School to talk about the different routes to qualifying as a solicitor. The programme also offers valuable opportunities to engage with industry professionals and network with current apprentices.

This intensive and fast-paced work experience is designed to build knowledge of the Legal team at BAE Systems while developing key employability and work-readiness skills applicable to a wide range of future career paths.

Please note: the dates shown within the work experience listing will be the exact dates of the work experience and cannot be changed.

27 – 30 July will be on-site work experience from the Frimley office.  31 July will be a virtual work experience day for reflection and presentations.

Applications to close approximately 8 weeks before the programme begins. However, they may close earlier if high volumes of applications are received – we recommend applying as soon as possible to avoid missing out.
