Job Title Industrial Placement Naval Ships Mechanical Engineer Location Scotstoun (Glasgow) Start Date 23rd June 2025 BAE Systems do offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, however it is expected on our Industrial Placement programme you will be required to attend your site 3-4 days per week. Please note, this may be subject to change in line with the needs of the business. The hybrid working arrangements including which days you are required to work on site/remotely will be outlined by your line manager. Salary £23,100 We design and build a full range of naval ships from offshore patrol vessels through to giant aircraft carriers, giving customers the capability to fulfil extensive naval operations around the world. We are the only provider of complex warships and their combat managements to the UK Royal Navy’s surface fleet. Do you have what it takes to join our Naval Ships team? Why BAE Systems? What you will be doing As a Mechanical Engineer you will be the one who turns ideas into products. You will be involved in the design, development and testing of the complex mechanical systems. In the early stages of a project, you will apply scientific principles and technical information to generate concept ideas. After this you will select the most suitable design and turn it into a viable solution. Through 3D modelling and a range of analysis tools, you will create a detailed design of the product that factors into considerations such as materials, manufacture, assembly, cost and performance to name just a few. Qualification requirements |
As a minimum requirement you’ll need to be on track to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design Engineering or Marine Engineering (Mechanical Engineering with Manufacturing or with another allied subject is also acceptable) |
