Job Title Systems Engineer
Location Rochester (Kent)
We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements. For this role, it is anticipated the successful candidate(s) will be required to attend site 3 days per week. Please note, this may be subject to change in line with the needs of the business, the hybrid working arrangements including which days candidates are required to work on site/remotely will be outlined by their line manager.

What you will be doing
Here at BAE Systems we design and build some of the most technically advanced products in the world.
During your 12 week placement with us you will work with a project team developing equipment for one of those product areas. You will gain experience in product development, learning to consider important factors such as schedule, cost, training and environmental concerns. Under technical supervision you will provide Systems Engineering services to the project in one or more lifecycle phases from requirements management, through systems architecting and modelling to integration, final acceptance testing and in-service support.
We also provide the opportunity to get involved in projects outside of your primary remit. We encourage you to seek a stretch project in which you’ll gain different experiences. With our huge portfolio of products and our multinational presence, there are opportunities to get involved in something different around every corner. Additionally, we encourage involvement in community projects, STEM initiatives and support groups (called employee resource groups) which all provide valuable learning and development experiences that you may not have access to in your day-to-day role.

Specific activities could include:
• Supporting the development of strategies to ensure that systems are designed and integrated so that they fully satisfy the customer and business needs/requirements
• Supporting the design and optimisation of system architectures and solutions using system modelling techniques
• Liaison with other teams and internal functions as required
• Determining the emergent properties of a system to support trade-offs, optimisation, risk reduction and testing
• Defining the verification and validation approach in order to achieve certification and acceptance of the system
• Drafting technical reports or other documents relevant to, or required by, a particular task in order to ensure that information can be successfully communicated with recipients

Skills
As a minimum requirement you`ll need to be on course for achieving a 2:2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Optics, Software Engineering, Electronic and Electrical, Systems Engineering Management, Systems Architecture, Embedded Systems Engineering, Aircraft Systems Engineering, Space Systems Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Mechanical Systems, Avionics, Aeronautics, Mathematics or Computer Programming.
To be considered for this role you must be returning to University to complete your degree.
