The post holder will report to the Mechanicals Junior
Supervisor and be an experienced and skilled Mechanical technician, undertaking
a range of detailed base maintenance activities on Typhoon aircraft.

The post holder requires an experience of maintenance on the
Typhoon, understanding of approved data set and is competent to carrying out
maintenance instructions in accordance with the organisation’s regulatory
framework.
Demonstrates a distinct ability of trade knowledge of Typhoon
aircraft and assemblies, follow diagnostic procedures and work effectively
within a team.

Core Activity:

  • Undertaking
    detailed maintenance, inspection activities on the Typhoon Mechanical
    systems. Assuring your work undertaken is completed in accordance with the
    work package, using the relevant approved technical information. Assisting
    in resolving faults and maintenance issues, including an awareness of
    configuration management
  • Undertaking
    and complete tasked maintenance activities on Typhoon Mechanical systems,
    which may include, as appropriate, component removals, inspections,
    repairs, modifications, fault rectifications, replacements and / or
    functional / system test
  • Demonstrate
    a flexible and proactive attitude to carrying out responsibilities
    appropriate to the role and takes direction appropriately
  • Maintaining
    a personal task authorisation for working on components in accordance with
    QAF requirements
  • Progress
    reporting against delivery targets to supervisor
  • Undertaking
    support tasks within the Base Maintenance Facility which are required to
    maintain compliance with the MOE and QAF procedures (e.g. oversight
    checks, control of tooling / test equipment)
  • Undertaking
    fault evaluation and raise ad hoc work cards for ‘found faults’ during
    maintenance
  • Ensuring
    all Maintenance activities are appropriately documented and airworthiness
    records are maintained on relevant systems (IT / paper based). Compile
    required reporting, identify any issues and escalate as appropriate
  • Maintaining
    a personal Log Book to demonstrate currency and recency, on completion of
    On the Job training (OJT) activities, sign other personnel’s logbooks
    as appropriate within your trade and skills boundaries.

    any impact on continuing airworthiness. Identify any issues and escalate
    as appropriate. Understand how the teams and own actions contribute to
    overall delivery performance and safety

    Comply with the regulatory framework, its associated procedures and
    standards, and any other company procedures and
    standards.  Identify and propose change as required as
    applicable
  • Safety
    Management System
     – Ensure human factors and error management
    philosophies are applied to all maintenance activities. Understand the
    risks associated with maintenance activities and the means by which they
    are mitigated and managed
  • Continuing
    Airworthiness Assurance (Quality)
     – Ensure maintenance activities
    are compliant with the continuing airworthiness assurance management
    system, in conjunction with the MOE
  • Statutory/Regulatory
    & Legislative requirements 
    – Able to demonstrate an
    appropriate level of understanding and application of the relevant
    continuing airworthiness regulatory framework. Support the implementation
    of any regulatory driven changes into the maintenance activities. Ensure
    compliance with all other requirements, e.g. ITAR, EaPW, ISO

Requirements

Essential:

  • Typhoon
    Mechanical Experience
  • Completion
    of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or
    Military equivalent apprenticeship / qualifications. Academic
    qualification for this role is a minimum of City & Guilds 2675 or 2661
    in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent. Aircraft
    platform training (On a/c requirement)
  • Requires
    a broad and in-depth product knowledge/competency within own
    technical/subject area. Awareness of how the team integrates with others
    in order to achieve the overall objectives of the area and demonstrates an
    understanding of the requirement for continuous improvement and its
    application
  • Experienced
    and competent operator.  Requires a minimum of 1 year working
    within Typhoon Base Maintenance. Demonstrating experience, currency &
    recency via a Log Book capturing skills, knowledge and authorities for
    working on Aircraft type. Practical experience and expertise in the
    application of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices. A
    knowledge of Expositions and Functionally Mandated Procedures Management
    training.  PDR training / experience
