Job title: Systems Engineer 

Location: Dorchester. On site

Salary: Circa £ 54,000  

What you’ll be doing:

·        General Systems/Hardware engineering activities across the engineering lifecycle

·       Act as the point of contact with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters, to resolve relatively complex problems and issues and to maintain awareness in both parties of priorities and objectives

·        Provide help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working and their development

·        Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority

·        Maintaining a level of SQEP for the role through personal and professional development

·        Produce reports of a technical nature or plans and present information to line manager, project management team and peers

  • Delivering allocated tasks within budget and to timescales as agreed with the project management team

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • A good understanding of the engineering lifecycle with a focus on installation and testing of hardware assemblies.

·     A good understanding of systems/hardware engineering methodologies and practices.

  • Experience with using systems engineering tools eg. CAD, SysML

Desirable:

·        Knowledge and experience in COTS hardware and assembly of cabinets

·        Experienced in production of design documentation, design activities, integration, verification and validation

The System Engineering team:

As a Senior Systems/Hardware Engineer, you will be required to perform a general Systems/Hardware engineering role within the METOC team. Major tasks and activities include, Production of design documentation, Installation of hardware on ships, development and management, design activities, integration, verification and validation. The role will provide you the opportunity to play a pivotal role in the delivery of the METOC system to the Type 26 Batch 1 & Batch 2 and Hunter(Australia) programmes, based from the Dorchester office.
