Job Title: System Engineer (Weapons)
Location: Portsmouth Naval base
Salary: Up to £45,500 dependent on experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Installing, commissioning, and maintaining RN (Royal Navy) Weapons Systems
- Applying knowledge, skills, and experience in order to resolve issues and faults associated with the operation and performance of RN Weapons Systems
- Presenting designated trials and commissioning activities
- Operating Safe Systems of Work that comply with the company SHE procedures at all times
- Working with technical autonomy and providing advice and guidance to other technical staff
- Providing mentorship and technical guidance to less experienced engineers
- Engaging with customers and authorities in writing, by telephone or face to face to discuss technical issues and problems
- Providing information and technical advice to assist in the compilation of estimates, programmes and work packages
Your skills and experiences:
- Broad experience of RN Weapons Systems and what may influence their performance
- Deep technical knowledge in 4.5 MK 8 Gun and 30mm Gun systems etc
- Maintain Weapons Systems knowledge applicable to discipline, and keep abreast of technological initiatives and updates
- Attention to detail in the identification and assessment of defects
- Excellent practical problem solving skills (PPS), making sound judgements based on own knowledge and experience
- ONC/HNC and ENG Tech are desirable

The Weapon Services team:
The Weapon Services Team (WST) provides RN vessels located in the UK and abroad with Weapon Systems support.
As a System Engineer (Weapons), you will support RN Vessels during fleet time by offering assistance with defect repair from installation to put to work and Harbour Acceptance Trials.
