What you will be doing
As a Summer Intern you will design and manufacture naval ships and submarines, as well as their state of the art combat systems and equipment. We also offer an array of associated services, including training solutions, maintenance and modernisation programmes to support ships and equipment in service around the world and the management of supporting infrastructure.
You will be working in a team containing some of the country’s foremost experts in the field of Safety Engineering and working on one of the most complex and high profile Safety Cases in the United Kingdom.
Specific activities could include:
Contribute to identification and closure of issues emerging from all product lifecycle stages and to manage the resulting change embodiment activities.
- Liaise with stakeholders as required ensuring that their requirements are adequately supported and that their needs are fully considered and incorporated as agreed.
- Provide realistic programme status, identify problem areas and implement agreed recovery plans.
- Provide support for assurance that the design is adequate i.e. it is robust, and provide supporting documentation for the safety case.
- Provide support to the Certificate of Design activities appropriate to the discipline.
- Responsible for articulating and presenting technical arguments clearly, logically and simply.
- Access, understand and apply relevant Quality and SHE Management Systems documentation e.g. Process Instructions, Workmanship Standards, Risk Assessments etc. applicable to the work scope and obey all SHE rules & control measures.
Skills
As a minimum requirement you’ll need to have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in All Relevant Engineering Disciplines.
To be considered for this role you must be returning to university to complete your degree.
