Job title: Software Work Package Manager

Location: New Malden – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: Up to £60,000 depending on skills and experience

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Monitoring of progress against plans & implementation of corrective action, as agreed with Software WPM
  • Responsibility for delivery of software releases implementing new or modified customer requirements and/or defect clearance
  • Responsible for ensuring the team meet their deadlines
  • Accountable for the quality of all work in the team and ensuring the team follow well-defined processes
  • To aid in the production of estimates for future software development
  • Management of budgets, monthly progress reporting and monthly estimates

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Knowledge and experience in use of software design and development processes including AGILE
  • Previous experience of managing budgets including monthly tracking of spend and projected ‘Costs to Complete’
  • Management of software teams and resourcing of the workload within the teams
  • Ability to manage multiple programmes concurrently

Desirable:

  • Substantial experience of managing software development teams

Applicants should ideally be Degree qualified or have equivalent experience, likely to be in a technology, engineering, science or IT related discipline.  

Applicants should be a Chartered Engineer or hold another equivalent professional registration with a relevant institution.

The team:

As a Software Workpackage Manager you will be leading teams to deliver capabilities for a range of products that shape and bring together the software that will be used throughout the Royal Navy fleet. You will be planning and delivering work across a variety of projects in a role that spans people, financial, reporting and technical responsibilities. You will be actively engaged with other teams on the projects, as well as suppliers and customers and you will get involved in the evaluation of new and emergent technology and the potential insertion of such technology to keep our product portfolio competitive in the market place.
