Job title: Senior/Principal Systems Engineer – IVV
Location: Various sites around the UK including Barrow-in-Furness, Manchester, Frimley, Bristol, Portsmouth, Weymouth and Brough.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on fast paced programmes and projects, helping us to design, develop, integrate, manage and support combat systems for in‑service and future submarines. This may include the development and support of our land-based integration, test and reference facilities.
You will be working with us to ensure that our technical solutions are clearly defined, integrated, configured, controlled, delivered and accepted. An understanding of relevant maritime legislation, industry & defence standards, will help us to ensure that our solutions are correctly configured, protected and safe to operate.
There are a number of interesting roles available across our UK offices, depending on your specific area of expertise and levels of experience. Hybrid working available in many of our roles.
What you’ll be doing:
· Understanding our customers’ challenging needs and developing, validating and managing requirements designs and qualification/acceptance activities
· Integrating systems containing electronic, mechanical and software sub-systems, understanding the potential impact on the whole boat and interfacing systems
· Verifying that customer needs are satisfied through planned qualification and test activities
· Taking accountability for technical work packages
· Providing leadership, guidance and coaching to other engineers
· Steering new systems development through implementation of best practice systems lifecycle processes
· Working with customers to support delivered systems and resolve issues
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
· Degree level qualification (or equivalent experience in industry/armed forces) in relevant STEM subject (Science / Technology / Engineering / Maths).
· Significant experience in Systems Integration, Validation, Verification activities of complex products and systems
· Understanding of relevant engineering standards, including safety and environmental regulations
Desirable:
Experience undertaking other Systems Engineering activities. This should include some combination of:
· Requirements Engineering and Management (DOORs)
· Systems Architecting via Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) (Sparx Enterprise Architect, Cameo, UML, SysML, MoDAF, NAF, UAF)
· Implementing and Governing Engineering Lifecycles
· Defining and managing System interfaces
