Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer – Auxiliary Systems

Location: Scotstoun (We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this role)

Salary: Up to £44 500 depending on skills and experience

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Maturing the designs of the assigned Auxiliary systems and compartments of the Hunter Class Frigates in accordance with the requirements dictated by the program milestones
  • Active engagement with the internal and external stakeholder community to synergize efforts and deliver best for program outcomes
  • Development and maturation of marine engineering processes
  • Leading decision-making within designated areas of responsibility
  • Offering robust support to team members and collaborating closely with the principal engineer and the engineering manager
  • Serving as the primary engineering contact for the suppliers, ensuring seamless communication and strong relationships

 

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Experience of mechanical engineering systems
  • Understanding of Engineering Lifecycle management
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems design

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in defence industry
  • Experience in the design, build, integration, support and operation of Naval or commercial ships or the offshore platforms

 

Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.

The Auxiliary Systems Engineering Team:

As a Senior Engineer the work you will engage in holds a considerable significance within the Hunter Class program, a highly advanced submarine warfare capability.
