Role Description

By joining FalconWorks as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer you will be supporting a diverse portfolio of programmes including Typhoon, F-35, Hawk and Tempest. Working within a dynamic manufacturing environment, you will develop digital CMM inspection processes for detailed machined components, fabrications, sheet metal parts and small sub-assemblies, supporting both new product introduction and in-service requirements.

This is a varied project-based role focused on one-off and low-volume production, where no two days are the same. You’ll work across components of all sizes, translating engineering design data into robust inspection solutions while collaborating with manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality products to demanding timescales.

Core Duties

•As a CMM programmer you should have a good understanding of design for manufacture, dimensional management and process planning

•You should have experience of CATIA V4/V5, LK CAMIO and Siemens Dimensional Planning Verification (DPV)

•You should have experience of Geometrical Dimensional Management & Tolerancing (GD&T) – ISO and ASME standards

•The Manufacturing Engineer will translate design information in the form of CAD models, drawings, material and manufacturing process specifications into digital CMM inspection processes as part of the Manufacturing Engineering Process

Essential skills

•Minimum of HNC/HND or recognised apprenticeship in Manufacturing Engineering

•Good knowledge and experience of basic manufacturing processes and Engineering principles

•Experience in specific manufacturing of Machining process and inspection thereof

•Engineering Toolset knowledge, CATIA V5, PLM (or equivalent Product Data Manager), SAP CAM, or SFM (Shop Floor Manager), CDP and VAS

•CATIA V5 basic operation, Siemens NX; LK CAMIO Inspection or equivalent. Siemens DPV

The 25 Hangar Manufacturing Engineering Team

The 25 Hangar Manufacturing Engineering team is a small, collaborative team consisting of a Team Lead and Manufacturing Engineers specialising in planning, NC programming and manufacturing engineering activities. As part of FalconWorks, the team supports a broad range of projects across programmes including F-35, Typhoon, Hawk and Tempest, providing excellent opportunities to develop skills across multiple disciplines.

Working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, the team is responsible for delivering solutions for one off and low volume production work, covering machined components, fabrications, sheet metal assemblies and protective treatments. The varied nature of the work means engineers gain exposure to a wide range of products and projects, supporting both new product development and in-service requirements.
