Job title: Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Salary: £50,000 to £55,000 dependant on experience
What you’ll be doing:
· Manage wide ranging aspects of the product lifecycle enabling the product to meet the needs of customers/users and achieve financial or other targets
· Carry out routine configuration, installation, and reconfiguration of infrastructure and related products
· Develop and configures tools to enable automation of system administration tasks. Identify problems and issues and recommend corrective actions
· Manage, assesses and analyses release components. Carries out the builds and tests in coordination with testers and component specialists maintaining and administering the tools and methods
· Assist in the development of test scenarios to test that new/updated processes deliver improved ways of working for the end user at the same time as delivering efficiencies and planned business benefits
· Undertake work within the area of specialism, taking account of interfaces and approved data; disseminating to others in order to resolve problems and proactively recommend improvements
· Manage Incident & Problem management activity and will work on the most complex issues with no need for supervision or support
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
· Experience and understanding in Linux – preferably Redhat/Alma/Centos7 and Ubuntu is advantageous
· Experience and understanding in various automation techniques using Ansible and Powershell Terraform and Packer
· Understanding of security hardening and CIS Hardening techniques and best practices
Desirable
· Trained to ITIL foundation
· Experience and understanding on how to install, administration and support of VMware vSphere, Horizon, vROPS

The Desktop Engineering team:
Working within the Infrastructure Engineering within our Shared Service business unit. You will be working with innovative technologies and modern infrastructure systems looking at building out the Digital Information environment into the cloud for the whole of BAE Systems.
