Job title: Senior Engineer – Weights

What you’ll be doing:
· Providing weight estimates in support of submarine programmes
· Using your experience of weight engineering to provide reliable, credible, and accurate weight data
· Physically weighing, liaising with suppliers and system owners, interrogating CAD models and supporting weights databases
· Conducting weight surveys on boat
· Engaging regularly with stakeholders in a clear and effective manner
· Supporting management and team activities
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
· Experience using CAD programmes
· IT literate in Microsoft packages, experienced knowledge in Excel
· Technical Engineering Qualification e.g. HND or Degree or equivalent technical experience
Desirable:
· Experience working with large, complex electrical or Mechanical systems
· Experience of using CAD packages e.g. SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD, RHINO 3D, NX or FORAN
· Weights engineering knowledge or experience

The weights team:
A great opportunity to learn more about submarines and develop an engineering career in this exciting field. The Weight Engineering Team are a specialist group of engineers who play a critical role collating, estimating, and calculating mass and centres of gravity in submarine design and build ensuring safe operations. The Team forms an integral part of the Naval Architecture Department, which is responsible for designing the world’s most advanced submarines for the Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy.
