Job Title: Senior Engineer – Mechanical
Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria

What you’ll be doing:
- Deliver engineering outputs including test equipment piece parts, assemblies, pressure protection and ongoing safety maintenance of equipment in accordance with the programme schedule
- Define the qualification obligations for the assurance hold points during build, test & commissioning, and providing assurance to the Design Authority as to the adequacy and robustness of the Safety Case and supporting documentation
- Specify and assist in the build of prototypes, products, and systems suitable for testing
- Conduct tests, document test results and report on compliance with requirements
- Design, produce analysis, mathematical models and draw design conclusions based on those
- Future proof the test equipment by developing a suite of equipment and engineering outputs that will continue to support ongoing submarines and future contracts
- Assists in the production of estimates, creates and/or assists in the production of design requirement specifications. Author/co-author technical reports, papers, articles, patents and presentations as required
- Liaison with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the level of assured support required and to confirm their needs are fully considered and incorporated where applicable
- Project manage engineering teams within multiple engineering disciplines to deliver complex engineer solutions
Your skills and experiences
- Suitable Engineering Degree or equivalent degree in STEM or related subject, or relevant suitable experience
- Chartered Engineeror working towards chartership
- Proficient in CAD (Preferably Auto Desk Inventor), MS Office (Specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and comfortable with other IT applications
- Display project management skills to enable delivery of engineering projects
- Requires expert knowledge gained through substantial work experience to apply principles and concepts relevant to Mechanical Engineering within Test and Commissioning
- Has significant experience and able to apply knowledge to a wide range of engineering issues within own discipline and other engineering disciplines

The Drivepack Team:
The Drivepack team are seconded by the engineering function into the Test and Commissioning delivery areas. Drivepack are focused on delivering engineering outputs to enable the testing and commissioning efforts. The test equipment is designed and substantiated in accordance with the requirements of the system and therefore requires engineering governance and substantiation. The Drivepack team currently work under a letter of delegation from the office of the chief engineer for both Astute and Dreadnought.
