Job Title: SeniorSenior Engineer – Combat Systems Platform Integration – 12months FTC

Location: Scotstoun, New Malden, Portsmouth, Broad Oak, Filton, Dorchester – hybrid, 3 day per week on site, if working from a southern site, on site in Scotstoun for 1 week every 6 weeks

Salary: Up to £49,000 depending on skills and experience

Role description:

You will be responsible for delivering a defined range of Combat Systems Physical Integration activities in accordance with all relevant Naval Ship processes, standards, and quality requirements at practitioner level. You will take accountability for the Combat Systems Physical Integration scope, undertaking audits and quality checks of engineering outputs to ensure accuracy, compliance, and integration integrity. As a senior member of the team, you’ll provide coaching and act as a role model for best practice, while also deputising for the Combat Systems Principal Engineer or Technical Lead when required.

Core Duties:

  • Undertake the physical integration of Combat System (CS) Sub-Systems, coordinating with CS Technical Leads and Technical Authorities to ensure coherency across the CS whilst considering the incorporation of whole ship and system requirements.
  • Maintain and manage physical and transverse information for CS Sub-Systems within Naval Ships toolsets, including creation and control of parts and occurrences aligned to sub-system maturity.
  • Collaborate and maintain effective partnerships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders (including customers) to provide dedicated technical guidance and support to achieve overall goals and compliance to standards, regulations and design rules.
  • Provide technical input in Engineering Change Boards and innovate when defining solutions to minimise project risk and maximise likelihood of successful implementation.
  • Produce CS Sub-System cable schematics, cable schedules, and cable data sheets in compliance with E3 guidelines.

Essential skills:

  • Engineers should hold relevant STEM qualifications and work towards Incorporated or Chartered status through a recognised professional institution. Support will be provided for accreditation, with preference given to professionally registered candidates.
  • Experience of systems physical and functional integration of a Combat Systems
  • Worked in typically two phases of the product lifecycle in the defence/maritime industry, with sufficient experience of the lifecycle to enable a good understanding of adjacent phases and through life engineering issues.
  • Experience of liaising with external stakeholders and can work confidently in a customer facing environment

Combat Systems Platform Integration Team:

This team is responsible for physically integrating the Combat Systems into the River Class Destroyer design. As a Senior Engineer, you will have the skills and experience to support the combat systems team through the Zonal Review process. This requires collaboration across the combat systems team, managing technical issues and providing technical support. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your skills & knowledge but also further develop them.
