JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The purpose of this role is for controlling and managing personnel and resources pertinent to AGF activities in support of the RSAF Operational Squadrons Typhoon Flying programme and generate aircraft to achieve the contracted Operational Ready Rates in accordance with best industry practice, BAE Systems procedures, the Maintenance Organisation Exposition and the RSAF Regulatory Framework.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Managing and co-ordinating the maintenance effort on shift to meet the daily flying programme and to achieve the contracted OR rate.
- Manage the Line Controller to generate aircraft for the flying programme.
- Manage the Expediter function to generate sufficient aircraft for the flying programme.
- Manage the Debrief/Dispatcher function.
- Carry out inspections of the aircraft shelters for husbandry standards.
- Carry out independent checks of tool control (100% checks, correct documentation etc)
- Carry out review of FOD practices across the AGF OPs SQN (correct use of FOD bins etc).
- Ensure all aircraft spares are placed on demand at the correct priority.
- Liaise with MOF to co-ordinate cannibalisations and ensure these are kept to the minimum in support of the aircraft flying and OR rate requirements.
- Liaise with the Specialist Trade Superintendents and Supervisors to prioritise the allocation of manpower to aircraft rectification and generation activities.
- Co-ordinate and liaise with the Debrief/Dispatch function to ensure all requests for assistance are prioritised.
- Ensure that the aircraft are in the correct configuration for the flying programme.
- Monitor engineering practices across the AGF OPs SQN to maintain and promote high standards of airworthiness.
- Liaise with the Spec Supts and Supvs to understand any TQs or other queries that affect the aircraft fleet.
- Manage and monitor the effectiveness of the EOR and Hit Teams in support of operations.
- Complete EPDRs for their direct reports.
- Welfare and discipline of all assigned staff under their control in conjunction with other
- Management and Supervisory staff.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Essential
- Must be educated to HND level or recognised equivalent or have relevant experience supported by formal, recorded workplace applied related training.
- Must hold a formal Typhoon ‘Q’ annotation in a relevant trade.
- Must have completed a recognised aircraft engineering apprenticeship in industry/military or similar qualification in aircraft systems.
- Must have extensive proven post qualification experience of military fast jet maintenance support, at Senior Supervisor/Manager level within an operational military flying environment and proven ability to manage all levels of engineering personnel.
- High level of interpersonal skill to co-ordinate a number of activities and the ability to communicate, influence and direct decision making.
- Thorough understanding of company processes and procedures and industry knowledge
- Minimum International English Language Test Scheme – IELTS 5.5.
- An understanding of engineering operating procedures.
- Proven Managerial experience within the aerospace industry preferably gained on 3rd and/or 4th Generation military aircraft.
- Experience of working in the aviation industry in a Gulf Coast Country preferred.
- The ability to act upon their own initiative within the scope of their job.
- A conscientious approach to work and meticulous attention to detail.
- A track record of meeting strict deadlines without compromising standards and quality.
- An understanding of ESS or similar electronic based reporting system.
RECRUITMENT
The post holder will have the following background:
- Experience serving on an operational military flying unit.
- Thorough working knowledge of the AGF activities associated with a Third or Fourth
- Generation military fast jet aircraft.
- Experience of working in the aviation industry in a Gulf Coast Country preferred.
- The ability to act upon their own initiative within the scope of their job.
- A conscientious approach to work and meticulous attention to detail is also required.
- Considerable aerospace and defence company/industry knowledge.
- A track record of meeting strict deadlines without compromising standards and quality.
