Role Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Control NDT Coordinator within our Surface Ship team in Osborne, SA. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all work performed—along with associated work packages and job cards—is completed in full compliance with required workmanship standards, specifications, and project quality expectations.
The NDT Coordinator ensures the effective control of all in process NDT inspection activities during manufacturing in accordance with the approved Inspection Test Plan. In this role, you will be responsible for the coordination of NDT activities on site, including ensuring all Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) requirements are incorporated into NDT activities, deconfliction of Production activities in NDT areas, NDT method determination, review of NDT results and data, OQE collation, liaison with the NDT subcontractor and other stakeholder liaison.
In addition, you may be required to deliver a broad range of planned quality assurance activities designed to give management confidence that quality processes are being consistently and effectively applied across the project and the wider line of business. Your work will help ensure that construction quality is embedded, monitored, and continuously improved throughout all stages of production
Core Duties:
- Undertake project and site Quality activities to demonstrate compliance to contract and BAE System requirements as defined in the relevant Maintenance Management Plan and/or Quality Plan
- Be responsible for inspection and approval of the product and gather objective quality evidence of build in accordance with the design specification
- Support on-going review of delivery of quality plan and provide value added cost of poor-quality metrics for the project ensuring all rework is minimised within the project
- Review and monitor all quality records required (work packs, manufacturer’s data reports, mandatory planned maintenance items, Closing Reports and Task Progression Completion Certificates (TPCCs)) to ensure acceptance by the customer
- Mentor and coach production staff and suppliers on the required level of workmanship as defined by the products drawings, specifications, standards and policies fostering a “right first time” culture
- Report and manage nonconforming issues in accordance with processes to ensure that all nonconforming issues are identified, segregated and reported
- Ensure all objective quality evidence is complete and accurate upon review and completion of all scopes of work
About You
- Relevant trade qualification, boilermaker or welder preferred with experience in weld inspections and sound knowledge of engineering drawings and specifications
- A thorough understanding of all Applicable Codes and Standards utilized in the Fabrication / Welding of Steel Structures and Pressure Equipment
- Certified Welding Inspector (with either IWI-B, or CSWIP 3.1, or AWS) is preferred
- Proven Experience in working to a Quality Management System with good understanding of quality practices and code of conduct
- Maritime / Ship building or Maintenance experience (highly desirable), with a sound understanding of ISO9001 and defence/civil technical regulatory framework is desirable
- Demonstrated experience in a large production/operation environment
- Intermediate skills in MS Excel, Word and Visio
