Role Description:
This Project Management role is responsible for driving program performance insights across a large defence export program, enabling informed decision-making through the consolidation and analysis of performance data.
The role requires the application of Project Management (PM) disciplines and skills within the BAE Systems Australia PM framework to shape delivery outcomes through integrated planning across a matrix organisation, ensuring alignment between strategy, execution, and resource demand. This role will also play a key role in proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks, driving risk reduction activities to support program delivery.
Working close with internal stakeholders, this role is accountable for the integration and consolidation of program performance reporting; delivering clear, accurate, and decision-ready insights for both BAE Systems and customer governance forums.
Core Duties:
- Lead the development of program-wide performance insights by analysing data across cost, schedule, risk, and delivery metrics to provide a holistic view of program health.
- Gather, integrate, and synthesise performance information across a large program to deliver clear, accurate, and timely insights that support executive decision-making.
- Influence program delivery outcomes through integrated planning and coordination across a complex matrix organisation, ensuring alignment of priorities, dependencies, and execution.
- Proactively identify, assess, and drive mitigation of risks to program delivery, embedding a forward-looking approach to risk reduction across all program elements.
- Lead the integration and consolidation of program performance data, delivering accurate, consistent reporting for BAE Systems and customer governance forums.
Essential Skills:
- Significant (6+ years) relevant experience in project management within an engineering organisation. Experience in Project Controls or Control Account roles previously preferred but not required.
- Experience building collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders including customers
- Prior or current experience using Open Plan Professional or Primavera P6 preferred but not required.
- Proven ability to work with and building collaborative relationships customers, industry partners, suppliers and government authorities, with the ability to negotiate with and influence internal and/ or external stakeholders in a way which generates business benefit whilst maintaining key relationships
- Ability to motivate individuals and teams across a number of business areas, to deliver project requirements
The High Frequency Sensing Team
The High Frequency Sensing team is part of the BAE Systems Defence Delivery Business Unit and delivers advanced Over The Horizon Radar (OTHR) capability across the full lifecycle, spanning acquisition, sustainment and research and development – with all design wholly undertaken within Australia. It brings together expertise in large and medium scale wide area surveillance systems to support sovereign capability and operational readiness for Australian and international export customers. It is an exciting time to join the team with major upgrades occurring for Australian and US customer systems, evolving sustainment focus to ensure capability readiness for the Australian Defence Force customer, and our role as the industry partner on Australia’s largest ever defence export; supporting both Australian and Canadian governments. Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) and Arctic Over The Horizon Radar (A-OTHR)
The Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) is a connected series of three remote over-the-horizon radars (OTHR) located in Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia. The state-of-the-art defence radar system provides wide-area surveillance at ranges of 1,000 to 3,000 kilometres and plays a vital role in supporting the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) air and maritime operations, border protection, disaster relief and rescue operations.
