Role Description:

Working with our Senior Project Accountant supporting our Hunter Class Frigates team, this role will be responsible for supporting the Project and Senior Project Accountant in maintaining the integrity and transparency of financial data to facilitate planning and decision making for the project.

Core Duties:

  • Preparation and review of monthly project reporting, variance reporting and project reconciliations
  • Act as the Finance business partner for the Support Systems Super Control Account Manager (SCAM), including review of Baseline Change Requests (BCRs), earned value management and attendance to monthly SCAM reviews
  • Co-ordinate finance inputs and support for the quarterly Estimate at Completion (EAC)
  • Assist Project Planning & Controls as required for financial matters, including implementation of Contract Change Proposal’s (CCP’s) for the Support Systems SCAM
  • Co-ordinate and assist in the preparation and review of the project annual budgets, 5 year IBP, monthly re-forecast
  • Ensuring a robust governance standard and culture is upheld through all delivery requirements and undertaking
  • Provide assistance to Finance Manager and Accounting Managers as required
  • Assistance to drive financial and project related system improvements & performance through processes, to achieve accurate, timely and efficient reporting to support informed decision making
  • Compliance to corporate guidelines, policies and procedures as well as accounting standards and legislation

About You:

  • Degree qualification, and completed CA or CPA qualification
  • A curious mind and the ability to think critically and challenge and influence stakeholders
  • Experience working within a project team will be seen as favourable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience of adapting these styles to audiences at varying organisational levels.
  • Ability to understand, analyse and communicate financial results and financial consequences of specific initiatives/plans.
  • Collaborative approach to work in a team environment within finance and across functions, and adapt style to account for individual differences and motivators.
  • As a Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and either possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearances
