Job Title: Project Accountant

Location: Broad Oak – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: up to £52000 depending on skills & experience. Part time & accruing hours available’ Please let us know if you would like to discuss these options. 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Deliver an independent review of the cost and performance of the project or group of projects area, providing sound financial support and advice, maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers, and evaluating processes to ensure that robust, relevant, and adequate financial controls are in place.

  • Deliver value-adding, robust financial service to the project team

  • Deliver accurate and consistent project reporting information to meet the needs of the project team and finance management within the required timescales of the business unit and the wider group up to and including the preparation of Summary Status Reports and Contact Status Reports and related trading plans (where relevant)

  • Monitor financial performance, providing independent and robust financial challenge

  • Reconcile the financial reports to the source ledgers to ensure integrity of the data provided

  • Initiate continual review & improvement of processes and procedures to ensure that the financial control requirements of the business are met

  • Take responsibility for decisions which will have a significant impact on project performance

  • Coaching non-finance employees on related matters

Your skills and experience:

  • Project Lifecycle Management (LCM) Process

  • Business Systems experience (SAP/BPC)

  • Finance Governance requirements including financial control framework

  • Project accounting experience – desirable

  • Knowledge of MoD Accounting/Contracting requirements desirable

The S&T team (Products):

The Simulation & Training team develop, deploy, and support complex simulators and training solutions to enable our customers to both maximize their operational advantage, as well as to design and develop the next generation of products and platform.

As a part of this team, you will be the project finance point of contact within the S&T team working closely with the finance business partner and project teams, within the Maritime Services Products business, managing and delivering a portfolio of contracts and bids, to a range of domestic customers both internally and externally in a dynamic and faced paced commercial environment.
