Job Description:
Translate customer requirements into clearly defined, production-ready work packages that can be seamlessly integrated into project delivery schedules. Leverage technical expertise to accurately assess the labour, materials, and specialist services required for each task, ensuring solutions are practical, achievable, and aligned to project objectives. Proactively coordinate resources, manage dependencies, and utilise business systems and processes to ensure all requirements are prepared, scheduled, and delivered efficiently and on time.
Core duties:
- Develop task breakdown structures and schedules based on customer requirements, production processes, and work dependencies.
- Identify required materials, subcontractors, and services, reviewing supplier quotations to ensure accurate scope and cost coverage.
- Estimate labour hours and resource requirements using production standards, parametric methods, and technical expertise.
- Conduct pre-production planning checks, manage workflow progression through planning boards, and resolve planning issues impacting delivery.
- Maintain and improve planning data, cost estimates, and standard job libraries by creating and updating task lists and parts information.
Essential Skills:
- Strong knowledge of ship repair production processes, methods, safety practices, and product safety assurance.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements, resolving technical issues when required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, and ERP systems for planning and production management.
- Effective teamwork skills, with the ability to support colleagues, monitor progress, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- In-depth understanding of production planning, resource estimation, and operational delivery within a ship repair environment.
The Production Planning Team:
The Production Planning team convert customer requirements into production ready tasks, suitable for integration into a deliverable project schedule and carry out work enablement to ensure all pre-work checks are completed and everything is available for production. This will involve using technical knowledge to determine the hours, materials and services required for each task and coordinating the preparation of these in time for delivery, using business systems and processes in a proactive way.
