Job title: Product Development Engineer
Location: Glascoed, South Wales
Salary: £42,132
What you’ll be doing:
- Product design and complex problem solving for new and legacy products
- Planning and conducting product trials including Performance, Safety and Environmental evaluation
- Working as part of an integrated project team, including regular engagement with project management, procurement (supply chain) and operations
- Presenting and liaising with customers and representing the company across the UK within the munitions industry
- Engagement with suppliers, both internal and external, to ensure that development activities are completed to time and schedule
- Lifecycle management (contributing towards design reviews) from concept to disposal
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Degree/HND/HNC or equivalent qualification or experience within mechanical engineering
- Demonstrable mechanical engineering experience
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and models
- Capability/ experience of producing high-quality technical reports
Desirable:
- A working knowledge of systems engineering and engineering design
- Familiarity with the Life Cycle Management (LCM) process
Applicants should ideally be Degree qualified or have equivalent experience, likely to be in a technology, engineering, science or IT related discipline.
Applicants should be a Chartered Engineer or hold another equivalent professional registration with a relevant institution.

The team:
As a Product Development Engineer, you will be working within Heavy Munitions who are responsible for the design, development, evaluation, testing and in-service support of various munitions products. You will have responsibility for the coordination of activities undertaken by specialist engineers as well as carrying out the project-specific activities defined by project plans/ tasks to develop these products.
This role will provide you with the unique opportunity to work with the design of munitions, as well as the chance to witness the product trials. You will have a really broad scope of work with good variation of day-to-day activities and involvement across the whole product lifecycle.
