Job Description
Job Title: Principal RF Engineer

Salary: Up to £60,000 depending on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Detailed RF circuit design including component selection, evaluation, simulation, schematic capture, and preparing guidance for PCB design teams
- Electromagnetic simulation and analysis
- Specification of bespoke procured hardware
- Design verification using a combination of simulation, analysis, and test techniques including support to EMC test houses and customer installations
- Generate design documentation and technical reports
- Interfacing with related disciplines including systems engineering, mechanical/thermal engineering, Integrated Logistics Support, Safety, Product Data Management, and manufacturing areas
- Adherence to Engineering Lifecycle and contributing to progress, peer, and design reviews
- Assist in the development of higher-level system designs
- Support system integration activities
Your skills and experiences:
- Circuit and RF Design Expertise: Experience in component-level circuit design for volume production and board-level RF design, including signal generation, modulation, frequency conversion, power amplification, and receiver design
- Proficiency with RF Test Equipment: Skilled in using advanced RF testing tools such as vector network analysers, spectrum analysers, waveform generators, and phase noise analysers
- Design Proving and Compliance: Strong background in design proving, integration, defect resolution, and gathering evidence for acceptance, compliance, and safety requirements
- Safety in High Power Systems: Rigorous approach to safety in high power and high voltage equipment

The team:
This technical role focuses on the RF aspects of hardware design, developing solutions for new products and integrating technologies into legacy systems. The role involves creating detailed designs, addressing engineering challenges, and managing board-level and unit-level designs.
BAE Systems’ Radar Sector is advancing next-generation radar and sensor systems, offering the opportunity to work on projects across the engineering lifecycle, supporting both UK and export markets.
