Job Title: Principal Product Environmental Engineer

Location: Barrow-In-Furness – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop, implement and maintain the Environmental Management System for the BAE Systems Capability, Capacity & Resilience Programme (BCCR)
  • Produce and manage Product Environmental Management Plans
  • Lead Product Environmental Product Environmental impact and risk identification, management and assessment activities
  • Influence the construction and delivery of the Project Environmental Case including Environmental Case reports
  • Complete peer reviews, checking, verification and assurance tasks to demonstrate the adequacy and robustness of the Environmental Case and supporting documentation
  • Understand the application of wider Safety Case, Quality and HS&E Management System documentation
  • Produce, present and articulate clear and logical environmental arguments
  • Support the appropriate meetings and Working Groups

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) Degree or equivalent qualification
  • Professional Chartership or working towards
  • The ability to analyse complex problems and identify the most critical issues
  • To be able to identify and quantify (i.e. screen and scope) all environmental issues to determine those that are critical/significant and those that are minor/trivial and develop suitable and appropriate solutions/mitigations/control measures
  • Ability to interpret technical data and produce clear, logical and robust environmental arguments that demonstrably support environmental decision-making

Desirable:

  • Project Oriented Environmental Management Systems (POEMS) qualification

The Environmental Team:

This role will require regular interaction with the Senior Engineering Manager – Product environmental, Engineering Delivery Managers and Senior Engineering managers within the Submarines Business. 

As the Senior Environmental Engineering Consultant, you will be responsible for providing support to the Senior Engineering Manager – Product environmental. You will also be responsible for the development and maintenance of the Project Environmental Management Systems for the BCCR Programme.
