Job title: Principal Engineer – Systems Engineering (Integration and Validation)

Salary: Up to £61,500 depending on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Undertaking design proving and integration trials on cutting edge in-build and in-service submarine combat systems.
- Taking overall responsibility for specific trials including planning, organising, leading, analysing and reporting.
- Leading, mentoring and supporting other members of the Integration team in your area of specialty when required
- Performing platform based trials on the submarine
- Undertaking peer reviews or checking / verification tasks as directed
- Ensuring all work is performing in accordance to BAE Systems’ SHE and local processes and policies
Your skills and experiences:
- Significant knowledge and expertise in Systems Engineering – IVV process and practices in the defence, maritime or closely linked industry and the correct recognition of the context of their work within the overall business
- Knowledge of the engineering lifecycle with experience of operating in the phase relevant to the role and awareness of the entire engineering lifecycle
- The technical understanding of the context of their work within the overall product and platform/programme
- A strong understanding of other related project, product, programme, domain, discipline and functional teams of submarines or equivalent external bodies
- A strong working understanding of Product Safety and SHE

The Principal Engineer (In Service Support) Team:
Would you like to work within design proving of cutting edge systems equipment for nuclear submarines? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineer at our site in Ash Vale.
As a Principal Engineer for Integration and Testing, you will be working within Combat Systems. This is a business area that continues to grow to meet the demands of design, development and supply of technology leading complex systems into the In-Service, Astute, Dreadnought and future submarine programmes.
Due to the growth within Combat Systems there will be plenty of opportunities for promotion within the immediate team as well as the wider Complex Systems and Support business area.
