Job Title: Principal Support Engineer (Technical Publications)

Location: Filton (Other locations may be available). We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Responsible for management of the Astute Interactive Electronic Technical Publication (IETP) Production Team. You will report to the head of the department to ensure all Astute IETP deliverables meet their contractual requirements.
  • This role will provide you with the opportunity to work as an integral part of a wider Submarine Technical Publications Team also involved in production of outputs for the Vanguard, Dreadnought and SSNA Class UK Submarines.
  • Build and maintaining effective liaison / communication with the MoD Astute IETP Manager and user community
  • Be the focal point for all aspects of Astute IETP production planning, quality control and delivery including identifying potential process efficiency improvements

Your skills and experiences: 

Essential:

  • Educated to degree level in engineering or equivalent industry or HM forces experience
  • Have Technical Publications / Support experience from working in a similar MoD programme
  • Have a working knowledge of an IETP / IETM.
  • Have a working knowledge of ASD S1000D
  • Have a working knowledge and understanding of the MoD Support Defence Standards in particular Def Stan 00-60 / 00-600
  • Communication Skills, you must be capable of communicating concise briefings to internal and external stakeholders on all aspects of the Astute IETP including monthly reports to the MoD customer

Desirable:

  • Experience of the trilogi suite of software (e.g. trilogiBuild, trilogiView and trilogiReview).
  • Submarine platform knowledge
  • Surface Ship knowledge

The Technical Publications Team:

The Submarines Technical Publications currently produce and deliver documentation to support the Astute, Dreadnought and Vanguard classes as well as engaging with the SSNA programme. You will be the technical lead for all aspects of Astute IETP and ensure that all deliverables are produced to meet their contractual requirements.

We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
